PRP injections are among the latest and most advanced methods used by physicians to heal patients. PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma and refers to the liquid part of the blood that contains a substance known as thrombocytes. When injected into the treatment area, these thrombocytes encourage cell regeneration and promote rapid bodily healing. This method is an excellent choice for the treatment of injured tendons, ligaments, muscles and joints.

Preparing for PRP Injections

To prepare a PRP injection, blood is first drawn from the patient. This process is akin to a standard blood-draw experience when visiting a primary care physician. After extraction, the thrombocytes are then separated from other blood cells through the use of a centrifuge. Finally, the increased concentration of thrombocytes is combined with the remaining blood and re-injected into the area of the body that is being treated.

PRP Injection Services

Cohen Medical Centers offers several treatments that utilize PRP. These treatments can be performed in-office and require little to no downtime following the procedure. Patients can return home immediately after treatment and go about the rest of their day.
