To combat COVID-19, The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for EVUSHELD™. This investigational medicine was created to prevent coronavirus (COVID-19) in eligible patients. EVUSHELD™ is a monoclonal antibody therapy aiming to prevent COVID-19 in eligible adults and adolescents aged 12 and over. A single dose consists of two separate injections and provides long-lasting protection for those who are not currently infected with the virus.

What Are the Symptoms of COVID-19?

According to the CDC, COVID-19 can exhibit a wide range of symptoms – from mild to severe. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. Anyone can have mild to severe symptoms.

Possible symptoms include:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headache
  • New loss of taste or smell

What Is EVUSHELD™?

EVUSHELD™ is an investigational medicine used in adults and adolescents. To qualify, you must:

  • Be 12 years or older.
  • Weigh at least 88 pounds (40kg).
  • Not be currently infected with SARS-CoV-2
  • Not have been in recent contact with someone who is infected with SARS-CoV-2.
  • Not be immunocompromised due to a medical condition.
  • Not have received immunosuppressive medicines or treatments.
  • Be able to mount an adequate immune response to COVID-19 vaccination.

**Do not take EVUSHELD™ if you have had a severe allergic reaction to COVID-19 vaccines.

Is EVUSHELD™ Safe?

EVUSHELD™ is safe for most qualified patients. However, allergic reactions can occur, and some serious cardiac adverse events have been reported after injection.
